Sarbjit is a biopic of a Sarbjit Singh who was living in a village near Punjab. The whole movie has been scripted with the help of letters which has written by Sarbjit from jail. The trend of making biopic is becoming very popular as we can see that Azhar, Sarbjit and Virappan have released, But among them only Azhar has got good reviews as well as box office collection.

The case of Sarbjit is not only about an innocent person who forced to live in jail with the identity of Ranjit singh, it is all about the corruption and carelessness of Indian as well as Pakistani government.  He stayed in jail almost 23 years. Finally he declared innocent and got bail, but he was attacked in jail and died in hospital, after the fight of 24 years the family members of Sarbjit got his dead body.

Dalbir Kaur is Sarbjit’s sister who has voiced against Pakistani government as well as Indian government, but her all efforts not proved enough. Sarbjit was tortured very badly in jail and because of that he confessed that he is Ranjit Singh and responsible for bomb blast in Lahore. Sarbjit sentenced to death and meanwhile he has written a letter to his family, and the great fight of Sarbjit’s freedom started.

In the movie there is one scene, in which Dalbir Kaur is asking everybody about her missing brother Sarbjit as she is not aware with the fact that he is in Pakistan Jail, at that time she asked one Babaji(sadhu) about Sarbjit and he told her that he is in Pakistan. After a few days Dalbir got a letter from Pakistan, and it was Sarbjit’s letter that he has sentenced to death. It is quite surprising that how it can be possible, how any Sadhu could give the correct location of Sarbjit.

Government has tortured Sarbjit without any proof and forced him to confess that he is the criminal and the real Ranjit singh was travelling in foreign country and he also told Dalbir Kaur that he has many “supporters”, he has proved this statement too he got bail within two days. This shows the corrupted Government of both the countries. Pakistani government has also not verified that whether he was Ranjit singh or not and Indian Government has also not helped Dalbir to get justice for Sarbjit.

Finally when Sarbjit declared innocent, his fellow prisoners killed him.  This is also surprising that how prisoners can kill Sarbjit before one night of his freedom, was this murder only a coincidence or any conspiracy? The answer of this question could create so many complications between the relations of both countries. The case of Sarbjit make us aware with very shocking facts about both the governments.

Randeep Hooda has proved that he is best and perfect in each role. His dedication has made the movie alive. We can feel the sorrow and tragedy of Sarbjit.
