1. Planning:
Whenever you are presenting yourself in front of the audience that means
you are not only presenting the subject but your ideas, views and your beliefs
to the audience. You also try to cultivate a relationship with your audience so
the interest of your audience stays throughout the presentation from the very
beginning.
For the interest of your audience and to the successful effective
presentation,
“Planning is
important”
It gives idea to the presenter, what he has to present in his
presentation.
TIPS – A new approach to the international presentation
T – Getting the Target right
I – Selecting the right Information
P – Organizing the Process
S – Knowing your communication Style
1. T - Target
When you are about to give a presentation, the first thing that one has
to keep in mind is,
“Getting the
Target right”
Before giving the presentation, the presenter has to understand what the
audience want and the culture and background of the audience.
The main aim of a presenter is not only to deliver the information, but
to “motivate the audience”. Select your target right by keeping in mind
the level of your audience.
2. I – Information:
After selecting particular topic of your presentation, the presenter
should start collecting information regarding the subject of the presentation.
While collecting the information a presenter should keep in mind certain things
such as background of the audience, their level of knowledge and their beliefs
regarding the subject. Besides that the collected information should be ‘reliable’.
3. P – Process:
After collecting the information, the presenter should start thinking
about organising the process. The presenter should plan the process by making
specific steps.
4. S – Style:
The presentation begins even more successful, if the communication style
of the presenter is effective. Before giving the presentation, the presenter has
to be aware of his communication style. If the presenter wants to win the heart
of his audience then he has to present himself as well as the subject according
to their understanding. Presenter should present himself in such a way that the
presenter could get acceptance from the audience.
Politeness: How to be polite
1. Positive politeness:
When the presenter understands his audience’s view point, and also
accepts it, that suggests the presenter’s positive politeness. A presenter with
positive politeness gives acceptance to audience’s views and believes in
change.
2. Negative politeness:
For a presenter who has negative politeness does not understand the view
points and also neglects it. This kind of presenter is not able to change himself
according to his audience. This kind of presenter does not think that to change
for audience is necessary or important.
